1JZ-GTE Engine Wiring

Toyota 1JZ-GTE engine wiring varies depending on the model of car and the vintage of the engine with VVTi wiring being different to the earlier non-VVTi wiring.

Hi Wilbo, looking good! If you'd like to copy your Soarer wiring section into the JZX90, I'd be happy to help update it.

Hi there Wilbro,
I'm a bit stuck on the speedo now, so the mx83 auto tranz has a 3 wire connection, and the 1jz has the 30-40LS auto tranz, so how to get my speedo to work? hope yoiu can spare a a bit of time to point me in a good direction..
thanx heaps Warryck..

Hi there,
I haven't personally used one of these, but I think something the Dakota Digtal SGI-5E or SGI-100BT should work.

so i have a Dakota Digital SGI-5E. soldered a wire from the 'SP2+' to the 'input signal'. '+' of the 2 wire speed sencor to the 'out 5'. connect the 12+ to accessory, and ground.
then used a gps and the + and - to calibrate the speedo..

also start inhibitor, had some wiring done , now cranks in 'gear' ,, i found an 'N' in the B1 plug, pin 15.. if connect to 'live at ign' on will this fix it? does the brake need to be applied to crank?

99.95 usd thanks for ur help, stay safe in these fuc-t up times..
Thanx heaps Warryck

I would have thought that you should be able to just use the existing MX83 cruise control wiring as it was all separate from the engine ECU. You would need the speed signal for the MX83 dash to be as per factory however... (not sure if that is the case in your arrangement...).

Alternatively, there is basically only one pin on the JZS171 Engine ECU for the Cruise Control... the CCS pin. Toyota have used the same resistors in the cruise control stalk for pretty well forever is my understanding... So you should be able to hookup the connection from the existing MX83 cruise control stalk to the CCS pin on the JZS171 engine ECU and have the JZS171 Engine ECU do the function of Cruise Control. (Look at using the JZS161 information as a guide). You'll need to make sure that the JZS171 Engine ECU has STP and ST1- connected correctly as per the wiring digrams for the cruise control to work.

This is about all the help I can offer. Cheers.
